2021 Pender County Nature Photography Contest Winners Announced
Pender County Tourism and Pender County Parks & Recreation have announced the winners of the 2021 Pender County Nature Photography Contest.
“The competition in the 2020 Nature Photography Contest was outstanding,” said Zachary White, Pender County Parks and Recreation supervisor. “Once again the 2021 contest had a large number of entries submitted with photos in each of the categories that included adult amateur, adult professional and the 15 and under amateur youth category.”
15 and Under Amateur Youth Category

Second Place: Kaiden Baker
Adult Amateur Category
First Place: Jennifer Bowden
Second Place: Catherine McGuinness
Third Place: Laurie Wierse
Judge’s Choice: Jeff Hall
Honorable Mention: Pat O’Quinn
Adult Professional Category
First Place: Randy Sloan
Second Place: Eric Kozen
Third Place: Lindsey Orem
Judge’s Choice: Jeff Wenzel
“We have received some of the most excellent photos of nature taken within Pender County with these yearly contests,” said Olivia Dawson, Pender County Tourism assistant. “This contest has been an impressive way to continue to capture and share the beauty of Pender County.”
The contest was open to the public. Photos will be used in published materials giving credit to the photographers and locations along with prizes awarded for winners in each category. Photos could have been of plants, animals, landscapes, scenery and historic structures within Pender County. Entries were accepted through 5 p.m., on Monday May 3.
