Summer Has Kicked the Bucket

Topsail Steamer’s seafood buckets are the perfect way to celebrate Labor Day with family and friends — no matter where you are!

Topsail Steamer owner Danielle Mahon has declared “Summer has kicked the bucket! Time to celebrate with a Bay Bucket!”

At two coastal North Carolina locations, one in Surf City and one in Wrightsville Beach, and a new location in Ocean City, New Jersey, Topsail Steamer offers call-in, online and walk-in ordering for takeout. Topsail Steamer also delivers — anywhere in the United States! You can actually get one of these tasty seafood buckets delivered next day anywhere you like.

“We’ve got the pot, you pick the spot,” Mahon says.

Topsail Steamer offers seven signature pots or a build-your-own pot that can include fresh North Carolina shrimp, local littleneck clams, oysters, snow crab legs, lobster tails, large sea scallops, andouille sausage and kielbasa. Sides include fresh corn, red bliss potatoes, cocktail sauce, homemade seasonings, butter and paper for the table. One-time-use buckets are available to feed from two to 25 people. For larger groups needing larger buckets, they can provide a propane tank. All you have to do is steam the bucket with two cups of water or beer, and the feast is on!

Many folks send Topsail Steamer buckets as gifts. They’re sent overnight in a Styrofoam cooler, so your friends and family can enjoy local seafood the very next day! With so many people staying at home due to COVID-19, those who don’t have access to seafood restaurants or who choose not to go out can have an amazing full meal delivered right to their doorstep.

Mahon got the idea for Topsail Steamer from many nights cooking seafood for friends during her childhood in Ocean City, New Jersey. But it wasn’t until she went to a seafood restaurant on the Outer Banks of North Carolina that she saw a restaurant offering steam pots as part of their menu. It was then she realized she could have a business that concentrated just on the steam pots.

“My desire is for people to be able to share the experience of a beachside feast while gathered with family and friends,” she says. “Just roll out the paper, gather together and enjoy a fresh seafood feast that encourages you to linger longer!”

There’s no better time to try your first Topsail Steamer bucket than the upcoming Labor Day weekend. Let us know about your experience: We would love to see some pictures of your gathering. Happy feasting!

Living in the Hickory, North Carolina, area since I was a kid, my parents brought us to the North Carolina coast every summer — usually to the Outer Banks — so the salt life has always been part of me. When my daughter graduated from high school and started college in Raleigh, I immediately began to realize it was the perfect opportunity for me to go coastal. This area fits perfectly with my many hobbies, which include fishing, tennis, pickleball and golf. It’s difficult to describe to others how amazing the lifestyle is in southeastern North Carolina until you experience it for yourself! I have already met a plethora of amazing people in my sales and marketing position at Carolina Marketing Company, and I can’t wait to meet you!
