Surf City offers two more chances to enjoy a fun night out in Soundside Park.
Grab a beverage, purchase a locally made treasure and enjoy a beautiful evening walking through Soundside Park for a special summer event. Sip, Shop, & Stroll may be challenging to say when you tell others about it, but you will definitely have fun as you participate in the evening’s activities.
Planned for Friday, July 23 and Friday, August 13 from 6 to 9 pm, the Surf City-sponsored Sip, Shop, & Stroll promises to be a great family outing on a warm summer evening.
Jodi Padgett Shepard with the Town of Surf City says that Sip, Shop, & Stroll is one of the new events they are hosting to encourage people to get out and have some fun. It began on June 11, and more than 350 people attended that first night.
Padgett adds that it’s also a great opportunity to support a mix of local and nearby vendors. The number of vendors is capped at 20 for each night, and they have different vendors each night. Local vendors and businesses have the opportunity to set up spots in the park, to get out of their normal everyday routine. Many of those local artisans offer handmade goods as well as other items such as seasonings, gems and jewelry, homemade soaps and boutique clothing. There are also artisans who work with sea glass and offer creative resin art.
For the sip part of the evening, Salty Turtle Beer Company will be on site, along with several other food and beverage trucks.
In July, they will be joined by Colevanellis Italian Ice and the Southern Roots food truck. In August, Salty Turtle and Colevanellis Italian Ice will be joined by the CBT Burger food truck.
As you stroll through the park, you can enjoy the sounds of a live band that will take the stage at 7 pm. In July, Heads Up Penny, a cover band out of Raleigh that also plays original music, will perform. In August, it will be Jim Quick and Coastline filling the air with music for the evening. Quick has been a winner of the Carolina Music Awards Entertainer of The Year Award 16 times.
Originally scheduled to launch in 2020, Sip, Shop, & Stroll is debuting this year and is already a hit with locals and visitors alike. Padgett, who is the special events coordinator for the Town of Surf City, says that people are ready to get outside and enjoy activities like this once again. In response, the town is hosting a number of new events so there’s always something fun to do in the area.
They’re also finding ways to encourage more vendors to participate in different types of events that will enable them to reach more customers. Vendor registration for the August 13 Sip, Shop, & Stroll will open on July 26 at 8 am.
Sip, Shop, & Stroll is free to attend. It will also be free to park for the event, since it starts after paid parking hours. Listen to the band, check out the local vendors and enjoy a sip and a bite to eat from the local food trucks. As Jodi says, “It’s a good time. It’s family oriented.” There will be something for everyone.
