Surf City Ocean Pier is seeking sponsors and volunteers for its July Children’s Fishing Competition.
Surf City Ocean Pier has some announcements about its annual Children’s Fishing Competition and Celebration. The pier has hosted the event for more than ten years but had to cancel it for the past couple of years due to COVID and the addition of paid parking in the area. The pier parking lot can’t accommodate all of the kids who want to fish on just one day, especially if that day is the 4th of July.
So, in everyone’s best interest, the tournament will now be spread out throughout the month of July. The Children’s Fishing Competition #ReelKidsFish at #SurfCityPier is now a month-long event. Instead of just one day, the pier will host the children every Thursday in the month of July.
This is open to all children ages 16 and younger, and no registration is required.
Over the years the pier has been able to offer all the children a free lunch and an event t-shirt in addition to other fabulous gifts and prizes that have been donated from area businesses, private individuals and various fishing wholesale distributors. This year looks to be even bigger and better than in years past.
Surf City Ocean Pier, Inc. could use your help with this increasingly successful event. They rely on the generosity of individuals and friends in the business community for added support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals they wouldn’t be able to provide the children with these hands on, fun, free and educational experiences each year. They are looking for both volunteers and sponsors.
If you’d like to support #ReelKidsFish at Surf City Ocean Pier, you can make a cash donation or donate a gift from your business or corporation. This year they would like to have 15 Sponsors, five Gold Donations and ten Silver Donations.
All sponsors’ names will appear on the back of the children’s t-shirt. Sponsors will also receive thanks and recognition in the event programs and on posters.
Volunteers will also be needed to help supervise, answer questions, cut bait, identify fish and teach fishing basics to the young anglers as well as help with serving lunches. For some of the children, this will be their very first fishing experience, and every one hopes to make it a memory that will last a lifetime.
