Two Topsail High School Marching Band musicians will perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’s Great American Marching Band.
Topsail High School proudly announces that two exceptionally talented musicians from the Topsail Marching Band, sophomore Samuel Casamalhuapa and senior Shayne Hughes, have earned prestigious spots to perform with the renowned Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’s Great American Marching Band.
Casamalhuapa, a tenor saxophonist, expresses his enthusiasm about this unparalleled opportunity by stating, “I am very thrilled to participate in the Macy’s Day Parade. I am grateful for the guidance, instruction and opportunities I have been provided by the Topsail Marching Band.”
Hughes, a seasoned clarinetist, returns for her third consecutive year marching with the Great American Marching Band. Despite a challenging start due to COVID-19 during her first year, Shayne has emerged as a seasoned performer. “My first year being accepted, I had no marching experience due to COVID-19,” she says. Beyond the music, she has explored NYC’s vibrant streets, watched Broadway shows and enjoyed the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
The Topsail Marching Band takes immense pride in Samuel and Shayne’s accomplishments, showcasing the dedication and talent within their program. As these two musicians prepare to march alongside the nation’s best during the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, they carry with them not just their instruments, but the spirit of Topsail High School and the vibrant community that supports them.
