“We are thrilled to welcome Trey Bailey to Surf City Elementary,” says Dr. Brad Breedlove, superintendent of Pender County Schools. “His extensive experience and dedication to fostering a supportive and collaborative school culture will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of our students and community.”

Bailey began his career as a high school teacher and coach in Wake County, North Carolina. He then spent the last decade in southwest Wyoming, where he taught at the elementary and middle school levels for the first four years, all while continuing to coach multiple sports.

After earning his degree in educational leadership from the University of Wyoming, Bailey dedicated the past six years to serving as a middle school assistant principal. In this role, he worked collaboratively with staff, students and families to create a learning environment where all students could thrive.

After ten years away, Bailey is excited to return to his home state with his wife and two children to be close to his extended family once again. He has already recognized the positive developments at Surf City Elementary and within Pender County Schools, and he is eager to join the professional team and engage with the Surf City community.

Stephen Harris, a dedicated and experienced educator, has been appointed principal of Penderlea School for the 2024-25 academic year.
