Share the Table’s Reverse Advent Calendar invites daily giving.
Advent calendars are everywhere these days offering treats from traditional pieces of chocolate to cheese, wine, beer and even little bits for cats and dogs. Many of us enjoy opening the calendar door to see a surprise as we count down to Christmas.
Share the Table, the local food pantry, asks that you join their reverse advent calendar and give a gift of food each day instead of receiving a treat.
“This is a fun thing for families, kids, anyone, really, and we’ve been doing it for four years,” says Dawn Ellis, executive director of Share the Table. “The community really supports this project. We appreciate that.”
Suggested donations range from canned sweet potatoes to cereal to rice and other pantry foods.
Share the Table is a faith-based community food ministry supported by seven local churches, civic groups, local businesses and individuals within Pender and Onslow counties.
