Alicyn Bryan of the Greater Topsail Area Chamber

by | Sep 18, 2020 | Business, Topsail Beach, Visit, Shop & Play

Hometown: Goldsboro, NC

Years living in the Topsail area:

My family has owned a home here for more than 30 years, and I grew up spending my summers on Topsail Island. One of my first jobs, when I was 16 years old, was scooping ice cream at Island Delights on the island. After college, I made Surf City my permanent address, and that has been 10-plus years now.

How do you think COVID-19 has affected the business community in the Topsail area?
COVID-19 has drastically affected our business community. Unfortunately, with the loss of revenue, some businesses have shut down for the season and some have closed their doors forever. However, through these tough times, our small business relationships have grown by supporting each other and “keeping it local.”

How has the chamber helped its members during this pandemic?
The Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce has helped members by sharing any social marketing or business updates made by our members on our online platforms (Facebook, Instagram, website, and our app). The chamber also has been a great resource for our members on how to navigate the “new norm” during this epidemic.

What does the Topsail community (or Topsail business community) mean to you?
The Topsail community means our future! I have so much love for this area and its community members. I look forward to enhancing our relationships with our community and its leaders during this time of growth in our area, all the while keeping our small-town feel.

What kind of things are going on at the chamber over the next year?
We are very excited to rebuild our focus for the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce. We are in the process of hiring a new director, we have new members on our board of directors and we look forward to becoming more involved and supporting existing events in our area. And, of course, we cannot forget that our Greater Topsail Area Flotilla and Christmas Market is scheduled for December 12. We are very excited to bring this event back for its second year!

How does someone become a part of the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce?
Future members can call, message, or even stop by our office, and we would love to show how the chamber can support you and your business.
