Topsail High School teacher Miranda Wells is a finalist for NCCAT’s CTE Teacher of the Year.

Pender County Schools is proud to announce that Miranda Wells, a teacher at Topsail High School, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award by the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT).

Wells, who previously served as a nurse for 12 years before transitioning to teaching, was recognized as Pender County Schools’ 2024 CTE NCCAT Teacher of the Year. She currently teaches health science courses at Topsail High School and serves as the CTE department chair, HOSA advisor and mentor to CTE teachers across the county.

As a finalist, Wells will be honored at the NC Association for Career and Technical Education (NCACTE) Summer Conference Keynote and Awards Gala on July 16 in Winston-Salem.

Additionally, she has been invited to attend NCCAT’s Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Program from September 30 to October 4 in Cullowhee, North Carolina, where she will participate in leadership sessions, share best practices and undergo interviews.

The celebration event for the 2024 CTE Teacher of the Year will take place on October 3 at Western Carolina University’s campus.
